Biography

How does the individual deal with loss? How do they restore cohesion to an identity that has been stripped of a vital component? How do they pick up the pieces of a fractured life and attempt to put things back together?

These are core questions at the heart of Life After, the stunning debut EP from Hoeksema. The five-track short player finds the titular Samuel Hoeksema playing with tension lines that rise, fall and climax across delicate keys, complex syncopations and inventive electronic sounds.

Led by singles “Palais” and “Wake Ache,” Life After mines personal depths in search of replacing the missing piece, the object being painted in negative space. This is an attempt to rebuild.

Stay tuned for more from Hoeksema and be sure to follow him on his social outlets detailed below. Life After is out now and is the third release from Good Eye Records.
